Now is the time to plant nostalgic
Sweet Peas:
these beautiful and enticingly fragrant flowers offer you so much pleasure
both indoors and out. We specialize in sharing the joys of sweet peas by
offering
26 special named varieties, all carefully
evaluated and chosen for scent, fragrance and form. We have traditional vining varieties, dwarf sweetpeas and container varieties.
Our packets tell
you in detail how to grow them successfully and Renee's
sweet pea articles give you background and
assistance in having a long blooming season with armfuls blooms in wonderful
colors. We guarantee that once you grow them, you will look forward to sweet
peas every season. No other flower scent matches them and no one has ever
created a fragrance that comes close to their perfectly balanced natural perfume
that wafts in the air. |

In the Trial Garden |
|
Early March in the trial garden is an intense flurry of
starting seed starting activity balanced with the process of cleaning
up, weeding and preparing the beds that will receive the seedlings once
we are ready to plant. Right now we have lots and lots of lettuce
varieties to trial and they are still getting sown or just poking their
first leaves above the soil in the greenhouse. While it's not strictly
necessary to start them in the greenhouse, we start them early indoors
because we have so many to trial. |
The week of March 16, the
entire office staff will be coming to the trial gardens they can all
practice starting tomatoes from seed as we get so many
questions about that process.Trial garden manager Lindsay and Renee are also deep in planning out the
rotations and succession plantings for all our garden beds -- we will
probably trial over 280 varieties this season, so it takes a lot of
planning to figure out what which varieties will replace others. |
